Improving eyesight

Kimon was seven years old when he visited our practice in December 2013 as his homeopath had recommended CranioSacral Therapy. It was a very rewarding experience when Kimon reported that: “I can see better!”

Souzy, his mother, tells of how his eyesight is improving.

“At around age 4 we realised that Kimon needed glasses, as he could only see about 20cms from his face. When he got to Grade 1, we noticed that his eyes were deteriorating fast, and the optometrist found changes every 3 months.

We went to the ophthalmologist every six months for check ups and were told to prepare ourselves as this deterioration would continue well into his teens. We were told that as a teenager he would be wearing a script of around -15! This was a very hard pill to swallow, being told that there was really not much they could do for him.

We took him to a Homeopath who put him on a Scio machine. She picked up tension on the skull, and she suggested I look into CranioSacral Therapy. I googled it and found Joanne Enslin – de Wet. We have never looked back. We started treatment when Kimon was 7 years old in December 2013.

Mid 2014 he had a check up at the ophthalmologist. Results showed that Kimon’s eyes had stopped deteriorating! The readings he had recorded were -9.5 right eye and -11.5 left eye! His eyes remained “stabilized” from 2013 to 2015. That means they never got any worse, which meant no change in script for glasses! I could see the ophthalmologist was a little baffled but said nothing. All along we kept on with the treatment with Joanne once every 4 months.

We went for our yearly check in January this year (2016) and his script had improved. His script is sitting at -7 in right eye and -7.5 in left eye. I cannot describe the feelings we went through! After many years of being told Kimon’s eyes will only deteriorate, to having seen an immense improvement in his eyes! Even the ophthalmologist is still at a loss for words.

I can confidently say that all this improvement to his eyesight is due to the awesome treatment Kimon has been receiving from Joanne. There are no words to describe our gratitude to Joanne and what she has done for our son. I believe that this treatment has not only helped Kimon regain some sight, but it is continuously helping to heal him from within. I have no doubt in my mind that this treatment is working and we will continue with this treatment as I know we will be seeing even more improvement in the near future.

Thank you!”

Treatment that worked for Kimon

The optic nerve is a paired cranial nerve that transmits visual information from the retina to the brain. It has 3 layers of meningeal sheathes  which are continuous with the meningeal coverings of the brain. These membranes become tent like structures inside the cranium and attach to  the skull – such as the falx cerebri and the tentorium cerebelli. They are closely related to the vascular system.

The outermost layer of the meningeal covering is called the dura mater (latin for ‘tough mother’). This membrane system inside the skull, if affected, can be involved in creating an increase in pressure on the nerves and vascular system. Treatment to restricted areas helps with improving circulation and nerve function.

Treatment such as Neuromeningeal Manipulation as developed by Dr Jean Pierre Barral, and CranioSacral Therapy (Upledger Institute) is very effective in these cases.
